Two (2) Nyle FD24 Dehydrators at Cosmo"s

October 2022 – Demand for specialty pet treats has grown steadily over the past decade, and Cosmo’s Superior Foods, located near Indianapolis, has been producing these treats for consumers who consider their pet a member of the family. Cosmo’s recently purchased another Nyle dehydrator to address the increase in demand for their products, which includes chicken jerky, beef heart jerky, and more.

Cosmo’s has been dehydrating their healthy, natural products (they don’t use preservatives or chemicals), using two (2) FD 24 heat pump units with drying chambers. Each machine includes an insulated food-grade housing with air distribution components that deliver uniform treatment air to all pieces of the product to reduce the water activity value, thereby ensuring prolonged shelf stability. The heat pumps, which use only electric power to operate, precisely control the temperature and relative humidity in each drying chamber. An onboard PLC with an operator screen allows operators to change operating conditions easily.

The new larger machine is the popular FD 60 heat pump dehydrator with a drying chamber.  The FD 60 has a water removal capacity of over two times that of the 2 FD 24s combined, and Cosmo’s plans to use all three machines at their new facility, which will be operational later this year.  Nyle’s service team will assist with the relocation of the FD24s and provide installation supervision and commissioning of the FD 60.
